Our Story
Emma Joe's Tree Service started in Roland, Iowa in 2014. What began as a local tree removal operation has grown into a full-service plant health care and tree service company serving central Iowa.
The focus on plant health care wasn't accidental. After years of removing trees that might have been saved with proper treatment, we made plant health care the core of what we do. Today, we put more time and energy into keeping trees healthy than we do taking them down.
That means we get called out to look at a sick tree and often come back with a treatment program instead of a saw, and a lot of our customers appreciate that. It's not always what people expect from a tree service, but it's the right approach.
What Sets Us Apart
A few things we think matter:
State Certified Pesticide Applicators
Anyone can spray a tree. Not anyone can do it legally, safely, and effectively. Our applicators hold Iowa state pesticide applicator certifications, which means we've been tested on application methods, safety, and environmental protection. For plant health care treatments, fungicide applications, trunk injections, soil treatments, that certification matters.
Arborjet Certified
We're certified applicators for Arborjet products, the professional-grade trunk and soil injection systems used by ISA-certified arborists across the country. This is what allows us to deliver EAB protection, chlorosis treatment, and other systemic treatments directly into the tree's vascular system, bypassing the soil entirely.
Honest Assessments
We'll tell you if a tree doesn't need work. If you call us about a sick tree and we think it's going to be fine, we'll say so. We'd rather lose a job than sell you something your tree doesn't need. Most of our customers come back because of that.
Iowa-Specific Knowledge
We know Iowa's trees, soils, and disease pressures. Bur oak blight is an Iowa-specific problem. Chlorosis is endemic to our alkaline soils. EAB arrived here years after the east coast, and the treatment protocols have evolved. Fruit tree spray timing in Iowa is different from the timing charts written for other regions. We work here, live here, and know the local conditions.
